The NAIT Ooks men’s hockey team had made history with a remarkable 52-game win streak, the longest in ACAC history. Starting on December 4, 1983, and lasting until this day in 1985, the Ooks dominated their rivals, achieving a feat that seemed almost untouchable.
Throughout two years of thrilling competition, the Ooks didn’t just win—they set a new standard. Every regular season and post-season game was a victory, making them the first varsity national champion hockey team from Western Canada to achieve this extraordinary accomplishment. Their unmatched determination and teamwork created a legacy that still inspires athletes today. Though their streak ended on October 19, 1985, their impact on the sport remains a shining example of what’s possible when a team believes in itself and pushes the limits of excellence.
The Ooks' story isn’t just about winning—it's about grit, resilience, and the power of working together to achieve something great. Today, we celebrate their historic run and the lessons we can all take from their journey.
The 1984/85 NAIT Ooks were inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 as a Hockey Team.
